Why You’ll Love This Fluffernutter Sandwich
Nostalgic Delight: The classic combo of salty peanut butter and sweet marshmallow creme will let you re-experience a taste of childhood. A single bite transports me back to fond memories of comfort food and packed school lunches. Quick Fix: It takes mere minutes to whip up this satisfying sandwich. (That’s probably why our moms put it in our lunch sacks so often!) It’s perfect for busy days or anytime a sudden sweet craving hits. Budget-Friendly: All you’ll need is bread, peanut butter, marshmallow Fluff, and butter. I bet you have everything you need right now to create sandwich magic. Super Tasty: Fluffernutter sandwiches offer a harmonious blend of sweet and salty flavors. That makes them satisfying, indulgent, and downright delicious.

Ingredients You’ll Need
White Bread: Though any sandwich bread works, white is the perfect option. It’s soft, fluffy, and the ideal blank canvas to be slathered with pure yumminess.
Creamy Peanut Butter: Creamy peanut butter is smooth and rich and pairs perfectly with fluffy marshmallow. You can use crunchy, but personally, I think creamy is the way to go for that nostalgic, melt-in-your-mouth experience.
Marshmallow Fluff: Gooey and pillowy, this sweet, sticky spread is what dreams are made of.
Unsalted Butter: Adding it to the bread and grilling the sandwich takes it to a whole new level of golden, crispy perfection. I know grilling takes a little extra time, but trust me—it’s worth it!

How to Make a Fluffernutter Sandwich
I’ve been making Fluffernutter Sandwiches ever since I was old enough to wield a butter knife.
Like most sandwich recipes , this one is easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Here’s how I make it:
- Spread the peanut butter. Place four slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread a liberal amount of peanut butter on two of the four slices. Cover every bit, all the way to the edges. 2. Add the Fluff. Spread an equally generous amount of marshmallow Fluff on the other two pieces of bread. 3. Assemble and serve. Place a slice with marshmallow fluff on top of the slice with peanut butter. Repeat with the second sandwich. Gently press the pieces together and serve immediately. Enjoy! 4. Grill it (optional). Instead of serving the sandwiches right away, close them. Then, butter the outsides of each piece of bread. Place the sandwiches in a skillet over medium-low heat. Grill for 3 to 4 minutes, then flip and grill the other sides for another 3 to 4 minutes.
By the way, if you enjoy this sandwich grilled, try a grilled PB&J sandwich next!

Tips for the Best Fluffernutter Sandwich
Recipes this easy don’t need tips, but there’s an art to making the perfect Fluffernutter!
I’m kind of a fluffernutter expert at this point, and have a few pointers for sandwich perfection:
The softer, the better. Whatever bread you use, ensure it is soft with a gentle texture. That will keep it from ripping as you spread the toppings on each slice. I found that white sandwich bread is ideal.
Be even with the spread. If you use two tablespoons of peanut butter, use 2 tablespoons of fluff, as well.
Be gentle. When closing the sandwiches, don’t smash the slices against each other. Instead, close them gently and press down lightly. If you use too much pressure, the fillings will spill out the sides.
Grill it – seriously. I know it may seem odd, but trust me. Even if you just try it once. It makes the bread crunchy and golden brown and melts the fillings into an ooey-gooey delight.
Handle with care. This reminder is primarily for grilled sandwiches. The filling can quickly reach molten lava levels of hot. So be sure to proceed with caution after removing the sandwiches from the skillet.

Variations
The simple sandwich is perfect as is, especially if you take the time to grill it.
However, here are some of my favorite variations when I crave something a little different:
Use honey wheat bread. The honey flavor pairs perfectly with the peanut butter. You can also drizzle fresh honey on one side of the sandwiches for a honey sandwich spin.
Try flavored peanut butter. Honey peanut butter, cinnamon peanut butter, even blueberry peanut butter! There are so many options out there to try.
Add bananas. Slice a banana and press the slices into the peanut butter before closing the sandwich. They add loads of natural sweetness and a unique banana flavor. Sliced strawberries are another good choice.
Use Nutella. I wouldn’t recommend completely swapping Nutella for peanut butter. However, you could do a mixture of half Nutella and half peanut butter. That’s a fun twist.
Make it a PB&J. Spread a thin layer of your favorite jelly or jam over the peanut butter. Then, add the marshmallow fluff to the other slice of bread as directed. Yum!
Add some crunch. Add a handful of crushed potato chips to the center of the sandwich. I know it sounds strange but the combo of salty and sweet is heavenly. I mean, when have potato chips made anything worse ?
Make “Uncrustables.” Use a sandwich cutter to remove the crusts from the sandwiches before serving. It’ll give them a prettier aesthetic.
How to Store
As you can probably guess, Fluffernutter sandwiches taste best fresh. However, I have to admit—sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach.
And there’s no sense in letting food go to waste!
To Store: Place the sandwiches in an air-tight container. Or wrap them tightly in foil or plastic wrap. Refrigerate them for up to 24 hours. Let the sandwich warm at room temperature before serving.
