Lynchburg Lemonade is a Tennessee favorite named after the home of Jack Daniel’s.

It has all the qualities of regular lemonade with a fizzy and boozy twist. So it’s guaranteed to cool you off on a warm day.

It’s incredibly tasty and so easy to make. So break out some glasses, squeeze some lemons, and stir up a Lynchburg Lemonade today!

What’s in a Lynchburg Lemonade?

Despite the name, there’s not any pre-made lemonade in this drink. It merely tastes like it, thanks to the big burst of citrus.

The Lynchburg Lemonade includes the following things:

  • Jack Daniel’s whiskey – Good old Jack Daniel’s is traditional. After all, it’s one of Tennessee’s finest produced in Lynchburg. You can use another brand, but it offers that authentic Lynchburg Lemonade experience.

  • Triple sec – For a big, sweet orange twist. Opt for a quality brand like Cointreau or Grand Marnier. Whatever you choose, avoid the budget-friendly options at the liquor store. They’re overly sweet with an artificial taste.

  • Lemon and lime juice – Freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice make all the difference. So, skip the bottled juices. They have off flavors that will make the cocktail taste funny.

  • Simple syrup – It’s optional, but I like to add a splash of simple syrup. Like in regular lemonade, the sugar helps balance the tartness of the citrus. Simple syrup dissolves more readily and is easy to make, but store-bought works, too.

  • Lemon-lime soda – Top off the drink with a lemon-lime soda for a sweet, fizzy touch. Sprite, Sierra Mist, and 7-UP are my top recommendations.

  • Lemon and lime slices – Add both for a garnish.

Recipe Variations

Here are some thirst-quenching variations to mix things up a bit:

  • Substitute sour mix . The original recipe calls for a sour mix. I chose lemon and lime juice as it’s commonly found in households. But if you want to stick with tradition, use the mix instead.

  • Make it a batch cocktail . Are you hosting a party? Make a big batch of this lemonade cocktail . Just multiply the ingredients and add them to a pitcher or a punch bowl.

  • Make it even easier . If you’d rather skip all the squeezing, just mix whiskey with a quality store-bought lemonade. Oh, and don’t forget the ice!

  • Try a Raspberry Lynchburg Lemonade . Add a splash of Chambord instead of triple sec for a wonderful black raspberry flavor. You can also experiment with other fruity liqueurs.
