Viral Pesto Fried Eggs
Ever since I tried this dish I’ve been obsessed.
Sunny side-up eggs cooked in pesto and served up on sourdough toast…I’m drooling already. It’s incredibly flavorful and insanely easy. Seriously, it will completely revolutionize your morning routine.
And all it takes is five ingredients and 10 minutes. Now, that’s a hot homemade meal I think we can all squeeze in for breakfast.
Ingredients for Pesto Eggs
You’d pay big bucks for this egg breakfast dish at a hip brunch spot. And yet, when you make it at home, it’s a fraction of the cost!
For this easy TikTok pesto eggs recipe, you’ll need:
Eggs – I recommend using quality, cage-free eggs. You can really taste the difference!
Pesto – Homemade pesto and store-bought both work.
Salt and Pepper – A must for seasoning the eggs properly. I use table salt and black pepper. You could also use sea salt, kosher salt, or cracked pepper.
Bread – I’m a big fan of freshly baked sourdough bread . But any other toasted bread works for this recipe.
Toppings (Optional) – Add any toppings your heart desires to elevate this dish further. I like roasted cherry tomatoes and ricotta.

How to Make Pesto Eggs
Have I mentioned how ridiculously easy pesto eggs are to make?! All it requires are three simple steps:
- Heat the pesto. Add the pesto to a skillet in a thin layer and heat. No need for oil here, there’s plenty in the pesto. 2. Add the eggs once the pesto bubbles. Season them with salt and pepper, cover with a lid, and cook for 2-4 minutes. 3. Assemble. Add toppings to the toasted sourdough slices if desired. Top each slice with one egg and leftover pesto. Enjoy!
Like avocado toast, you can stop right there. But if you want a real feast, serve your pesto eggs with these crispy roasted Parmesan potatoes !

Recipe Tips and Variations
Want to take your pesto eggs from good to OMG? Then up your breakfast game with these quick tips:
Crack the eggs in a bowl. To avoid shells and broken yolks, crack the eggs gently into a small bowl. Then, pour them into the pesto in the pan.
Use a lid. It’ll help the whites cook fully without ruining that golden yolk.
Cook the eggs to taste. Prefer fried eggs over-hard? Or how about scrambled? I say, go for it! You can easily cook the eggs to your desired level of doneness.
Give it a kick. These eggs are delicious with a spicy twist! So if you like a little heat, add a few dashes of hot sauce, a sprinkling of red pepper flakes or a spoonfull of crunchy chili oil.
Customize with toppings. Spread goat or ricotta cheese over the crunchy bread. Fry cherry tomatoes until they blister. Or smash avocados with garlic for an aromatic and creamy element.
